Addiction to tobacco and alcohol in male partners of infertile couples: a descriptive study

Background: In recent decades infertility has become a burdensome problem with its profound psychological, economic, demographic and medical complications. an infertile couple male factor plays as much important role that of female factor. Life style factors like addiction to tobacco, alcohol drugs do have effect on fertility. The purpose this study was assess the tobacco in partners couples tertiary care center.Methods: This prospective cross-sectional undertaken department obstetrics gynecology, JIPMER, Pondicherry from June 2018 October 2019. 440 were included. participants subjected detailed history taking, examination investigations various parameters contributing infertility.Results: Semen abnormalities noted 78.2% population, among which azoospermia (19.8%) most common type. Addiction smoking 25.7% 18.2% respectively.Conclusions: Smoking, intake duration significant association semen quality.
